What is a Gyotaku?

Gyotaku (魚拓) is a Japanese method for printing fish in which the fish itself is used as a printing plate.

It’s a form of Japanese culture that began in the 1800s as a way for fishermen to document their catches.

Digital gyotaku are digital art reproductions of these traditional gyotaku prints.

About Editing

The higher the quality of the fish photos, the higher the quality of the finished product will be.

That said, we can also edit photos that don't show the entire fish or flip them horizontally.

Our digital gyotaku are printed on a material called tromat.

Tromat is a polyester fabric that’s soft and easily foldable.
